May 22, 2026 Milan – the Milano Marathon Awards took place last night, the major closing event of the Wizz Air Milano Marathon. A tribute to the world of runners, partners, charities and ambassadors of the 24th edition of one of the most anticipated sporting events on the international scene, the .

A celebration in the heart of Milan, at Sala Buzzati, the official auditorium of Corriere della Sera, just a short distance from Corso Sempione, where this year’s 42 km race and relay started, involving as many as 30,000 runners.

The event was dedicated to awarding ETS organizations (third sector entities), socially responsible companies, relay teams and individual fundraisers for this year’s fundraising activities linked to the and the Charity Program.

€2,271,000 is the amount raised this year on the Rete del Dono platform — more than 24 percent higher than in 2025 — with results exceeding expectations and projected figures. More than €11 million has been raised overall between 2012 and 2026.

These impressive numbers further confirm the importance of a project linked to a sporting event designed to encourage participants to support the official charities in their activities.

This success was also achieved thanks to a significant evolution of the Charity Program. With the aim of making the program increasingly inclusive — bringing marathon runners, and not only relay participants, closer to supporting charitable projects — the number of official ETS organizations was increased this year from 103 in 2025 to 140. A major step forward compared to the past, which expanded the range of charity packages available, including not only relay race bibs but also entries for the marathon itself.

Among the most emotional moments of the evening was the announcement of the new Charity of the Year. After Fondazione TOG in 2025 and PlayMore with RunChallenge! this year, Fondazione AIRC will accompany RCS Sports & Events on the road to the 2027 edition.

The Charity of the Year initiative was introduced to highlight the commitment and work of outstanding social organizations that are part of the Marathon’s Charity Program.

Luca Onofrio, Head of Mass Events of RCS Sports & Events: “The Wizz Air Milano Marathon continues to grow not only through the numbers it records, but also through the value it brings with it — made up of ideas and projects that are generated and developed edition after edition. The decision to choose Fondazione AIRC is because it best represents the deepest meaning of our Marathon: bringing together people, companies and communities around a goal that goes beyond the sporting finish line. Thanks to its scientific credibility and the quality of the project presented for 2027 — concrete and measurable — AIRC is able to transform every kilometre run into a meaningful gesture that supports cancer research and promotes a culture of prevention, giving even deeper meaning to the participation of runners and supporters.”

The Wizz Air Milano Marathon continues to be much more than a sporting event: it is a powerful driver of solidarity thanks to the Charity Program, which has had Rete del Dono as a partner since its launch in 2012. “The Milano Marathon Charity Program is an ambitious and engaging project that brings together local communities and stakeholders, placing runners, companies and non-profit organizations at its core,” said Valeria Vitali, Founder of Rete del Dono. “The 2026 edition marked a new historic milestone, with €2,270,000 raised through 1,425 active personal fundraisers and €810,000 raised by companies involving their employees in fundraising activities: a clear sign that behind every step there is a collective commitment toward a more inclusive and supportive society.”
