Charity Program
What is it?
It is the largest fundraising program in Italy linked to a sporting event, and one of the most important in Europe. Through the Charity Program, you can choose to run for a good cause, supporting one of the projects promoted by over 140 officially registered non-profit organizations (NPOs).
What is the goal?
The goal is simple yet powerful: to help those who need it most, by engaging runners, companies, and supporters in an experience of sport and solidarity.
Since 2012, the year of the first edition of the Charity Program, more than € 11.000.000 have been raised thanks to the generosity of thousands of people who chose to run with their hearts. In 2026 alone, over €3,167,000 were raised in support of participating NPOs.
How to participate?
You can contribute to the fundraising in two ways:
🏃♀️ By running the Relay Marathon, the solidarity relay race open to teams of 4 runners
🏅 By registering for the Wizz Air Milano Marathon and choosing to associate your race in support of a cause you believe in
Every participation is a gesture of commitment: you run, and your energy becomes support for those who work every day to build a better future.

FAQ for Charities
What is the Relay Marathon?
The Relay Marathon is a non-competitive relay run connected to the Milano Marathon Charity Program. The relay is open only to the teams that donate a minimum amount to and/or fundraise for one of the non-profit organizations involved in the Charity Program. So, the Relay Marathon is a great charitable fundraising event, the major one in kind in Italy.
What is the Charity Program?
It is a solidarity program that has been organized for over 16 years by Milano Marathon and aims to bring to non-profit organizations a new way of fundraising and personal fundraising. The Charity program is a limited-number project and involves around 140 organizations every year.
Which organizations can enroll?
All third sector organisations.
Does the non-profit organization need to work in a specific sector?
No, the Charity Programme welcomes organisations working in various social sectors every year.
How does a non-profit organization join the Charity Program?
The first step is to send an e-mail to charityprogram@milanomarathon.it and fill in the online form you will receive, indicating the type of package you are interested in.
What are the packages?
The Charity Program includes 6 different packages or categories. For each category the charity can register a fixed maximum number of “supporting” teams in the Relay Marathon.
As you can see, the number of available packages for each category (hence, for the entire Charity Program) is limited. It is a limited-number program, on a yearly basis, to ensure the greatest possible assistance to the involved non-profit organizations.
What do the packages include, besides the registrations that can be used for the “supporting” teams of the NPO?
The packages include a wide range of benefits for the participating organizations, but the main advantage for all the NPOs is to become part of an organizational structure capable of accompanying them throughout a leading-to-the-event process that lasts from the moment they register until May of the following year.
Both the amount and the import of the benefits increase as the most prestigious (PLATINUM and DIAMOND and CHARITY OF THE YEAR packages) are acquired.
How much do the packages cost?
The total price of the packages increases as you acquire packages including a greater number of teams that can be registered. Vice versa, the unit cost of each team decreases progressively.
Contact us at charityprogram@milanomarathon.it for details on the cost of each package.
What does it happen if an NPO cannot place all the registrations included in its package?
The Market Place is the ‘economic risk mitigation’ system for associations. It is an exchange platform, managed by Wizz Air Milano Marathon, which allows NPOs to surrender unused registrations or buy additional ones. The Market Place algorithm seeks a numerical balance between surrendered and purchased registrations. The allocation is made according to a weighted average. All packages include access to the Market Place, except for the Wild Card package.
ATTENTION: if the numerical balance is not reached, the organisation reserves the right not to fulfil the requests made.
