Running for City Angels
Milano Marathon, Sunday 4 April 2027: every step can make a difference.
A hot meal, a blanket, a helping hand. Small gestures that can make a big difference in the lives of people facing severe hardship.
On the streets of Milan, there are people who face hunger, cold, loneliness and uncertainty about tomorrow every day. For them, a hot meal or a safe place to spend the night provides much-needed support.
About us
Fondazione Lions Milano Città Metropolitana ETS represents the Lions community in the Milan area and is part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organisation, active in over 200 countries. Our motto is “We Serve”.
Run with Lions for City Angels
Fondazione Lions Milano Città Metropolitana ETS is taking part in the Milano Marathon 2027 to support City Angels in Milan, an organisation with which the Lions community has worked for many years through joint initiatives and a shared commitment to helping the most vulnerable.
The Milano Marathon is an opportunity to strengthen this bond and once again turn our partnership into practical support for those who need it most.
Every kilometre our runners cover can help provide food, protection and support for people experiencing homelessness.
Because no one should feel invisible in their own city.
City Angels the angels of solidarity and safety
Founded in Milan in 1994 by Mario Furlan, City Angels volunteers are recognisable by their blue berets and red jackets. Every day, they take to the streets to bring food, blankets, clothes and sleeping bags to people experiencing homelessness, older people living alone and anyone in difficulty, while also offering a listening ear and human connection.
Alongside their support work, City Angels also help keep the streets safe through a regular presence in local communities and activities to prevent and combat crime, in cooperation with law enforcement. They also accompany women who fear harassment or assault, helping make the city safer for everyone.
Their commitment goes beyond immediate assistance. At the Elio Fiorucci shelter in Niguarda, City Angels provide accommodation, training and pathways into employment to help residents regain dignity, confidence and independence.
Our goal
To raise funds to support the work of City Angels, helping provide meals, blankets, basic necessities and assistance for people experiencing homelessness.
Every donation can help bring a hot meal to someone who is hungry, a blanket to someone facing the cold and practical support to someone living in difficult circumstances.
For the Milano Marathon 2027, we have set a fundraising target of € 15,000, with a particular focus on supporting two City Angels services in Milan:
- The Furgone Dignità, a mobile service offering showers, haircuts, beard grooming and first aid to people experiencing homelessness. The service costs €600 per month.
- Meals for residents of the Elio Fiorucci shelter, on Via Gino Pollini: €10 covers breakfast, lunch and dinner for one person for one day; €500 provides a full day’s meals for 50 residents.
Every contribution brings us closer to our goal.
Run with us at the Milano Marathon 2027
We are looking for runners, teams of friends, families and companies ready to run for a worthwhile cause, making every entry an opportunity to provide practical support for City Angels.
Join the charity relay: form a team of four and share the marathon’s 42.195 km distance. Enjoy an experience of sport, friendship and solidarity with colleagues, friends or family.
Run the marathon: take on the full 42.195 km distance and dedicate your sporting challenge to those who need it most.
Those who run with us can set up their own fundraising page on Rete del Dono, involving friends, family and colleagues in supporting the project.
RUN WITH US. SUPPORT THE PROJECT.
Every kilometre covered is an act of solidarity. Every donation provides practical help for those who need it most. Together we can make a difference.
