Milan, April 10, 2025 – Just a few days after the conclusion of an extraordinary edition that once again confirmed Milan as the capital of running and set new benchmarks to beat, RCS Sports & Events is pleased to announce that the next edition will take place on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
Wizz Air, continuing to expand the number of routes connecting Milan with major international capitals, has renewed its Title Sponsorship through 2027, further strengthening the increasingly international character of the event. This year’s figures speak for themselves: 56% of participants were international runners, an important trend expected to grow further. A total of 106 nations were represented; after Italy, the largest groups came from France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and Ireland.
The 23rd Wizz Air Milano Marathon was a resounding success, with more than 10,000 registered runners and a women’s race that delivered the fastest time of the year on Italian soil (Ethiopia’s Shure Demise WARE in 2:23:31). The event capped off a week dedicated to sport: the Milano Running Festival presented by Sky Wifi welcomed over 40,000 visitors to MiCo in CityLife between Thursday and Saturday, while the Levissima Family Run and Arcaplanet Dog Run drew an impressive 8,500 participants.
The Milano Marathon is also the opening event of the Wizz Run Series, the Wizz Air running “championship”. Wizz Air has been the Title Sponsor of the event since December 2022.
Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager at Wizz Air, commented:
“Wizz Air is truly proud to renew its partnership with the Milano Marathon as Title Sponsor for the next two years. This collaboration reflects our growing commitment to the city of Milan and to Milan Malpensa, one of our most important bases in Italy. The Wizz Air Milano Marathon is part of the Wizz Run Series, our competition that gives runners across Europe the chance to win the All You Can Fly membership. We strongly believe that running is the perfect example of a sport that is accessible, inclusive and affordable for all. Continuing this journey alongside the Milano Marathon, and supporting events that bring people together while promoting energy, accessibility, social sustainability and community spirit, is part of Wizz Air’s DNA. We are excited to keep running with Milan.”
Paolo Bellino, CEO and General Manager of RCS Sports & Events, added:
“Wizz Air joined our world two years ago, and today, more than ever, this partnership, which we are proud to renew, embodies many of the values we share. First and foremost, the international nature of the Marathon, highlighted by the growing number of foreign participants, who reached 56% of total registrations. This is a key objective for us, as is our commitment to sustainability and making running accessible to everyone. These are central priorities as we work to build, year after year, something new and inspiring that encourages athletes and enthusiasts to choose this event and experience a city like Milan— increasingly international, full of unique places and traditions that may be less known to tourists but equally fascinating to discover.”
