LET’S RUN TOGETHER TO PROVIDE PSYCHLOGICAL SUPPORT TO OUR PATIENTS
Our project is to provide patients with head and neck cancer with adequate and continuous psychological support throught all phases of treatment.
The diagnosis of a tumor is always a traumatic experience, and even more so if the site affected by the neoplasm is the head: it is a real blow that hits . . . . . between head and neck. Anger, confusion, fear are the emotional reactions that follow the communication of the diagnosis and lead to a compromise of personal identity and a loss of one’s ability to react and defend one self.
Furthermore, the path that the patient has to face can be long, complex and tiring.
Institutions are unable to adequately and comprehensively provide this support : this is why our Association has committed to recruiting two psychologists who are experts and trained in this field.
The project includes several proposals, which are in continuity with each other:
- First interview upon diagnosis;
- Assistance during the various phases of treatment;
- Consultations with family members;
- Convivial meetings between former patients and volunteers, always under the guidance of psychologists.
So, don’t waste time . . . . . run with your group to support this project.
