Nexus Young – YouSport
YouSport is an association established in Milan in 2020 with the mission of promoting social inclusion, active citizenship, and the appreciation of diversity through sport. In a city rich in opportunities yet deeply affected by inequality, we consider football to be a universal language—capable of fostering connections, reinforcing positive identities, and accompanying young people in their personal development.
Nexus Young is the initiative selected by YouSport for the Relay Marathon, specifically addressing young people aged 15 to 21—an age group frequently underserved by traditional educational frameworks. The project provides free and inclusive training sessions, participation in the Milan CSI 11-a-side championship, and a range of complementary educational activities: thematic workshops on daily life and well-being, creative initiatives such as podcasts and team projects, as well as community-building opportunities (shared dinners, cultural events, and social gatherings).
Special focus is placed on unaccompanied foreign minors (UFM), who represent one of the most vulnerable groups at risk of social exclusion. In Milan alone, the Municipality currently supports between 1,300 and 1,400 of these young people—a figure that has grown in recent years and requires immediate educational and social interventions. Without tangible opportunities, they risk experiencing isolation, marginalization, and a lack of future prospects.
Each year, approximately 20 participants will engage in a pathway that integrates sport, education, and community, guided by educators, coaches, and volunteers. The objective is to develop interpersonal and relational skills, strengthen motivation, foster a sense of belonging, and cultivate trust in the future.
Through Nexus Young, our ambition is to offer this generation—often caught between school, work, and identity—the opportunity to grow both on and off the field, building not only a cohesive team but also a supportive and inclusive community.
