SocialPRO 2.0 – Support That Bridges the Distance
Facing an illness far from home is a complex challenge, full of practical, emotional, and financial obstacles. SocialPRO 2.0 was created precisely for this purpose: to accompany oncology and neurology patients—and their caregivers—through the difficult care journey, providing concrete, human, and ongoing support.
The project operates in the metropolitan area of Milan, a national reference point for healthcare thanks to two centers of excellence: the IRCCS National Cancer Institute and the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute, which together welcome over 20,000 patients from across Italy every year. SocialPRO 2.0 offers these patients—and those who assist them—a network of services that transforms distance into care and need into response.
Four Key Areas of 360° Support
- Help Line – 7 days a week
A constant point of reference, providing personalized information on accommodation, transport, and support services.
- Free Accommodation
Up to 1,000 overnight stays per year, ensuring a safe refuge for those coming from afar.
- Solidarity Transport
Free transfers for vulnerable patients within the city and to/from Linate Airport or the Central Train Station.
- Listening Desk and Oncology Counseling
A dedicated space for empathetic listening, stress management, self-awareness enhancement, and burnout prevention.
In 2024/2025 alone, SocialPRO 2.0 has already supported over 120 people, providing more than 1,000 nights of free accommodation, 340 transport services, and 80 hours of personalized counseling.
For the city of Milan, this project represents a valuable resource and promotes social inclusion, strengthening the community’s solidarity network.
