At La Grande Casa, we believe that every person — even after moments of hardship or pain — deserves to be the protagonist of their own life journey.
For us, self-determination means having both the opportunity and the tools to make one’s own choices. That’s why we don’t want to “do for,” but to “do with”: giving people the means and the confidence to build their future with dignity.
Who we are
Founded in 1989, La Grande Casa is a social cooperative that has supported women, migrants, families, young people, children, and local communities for over thirty-five years — promoting full access to rights and active citizenship.
We operate in ten areas across Lombardy, offering practical solutions to people in vulnerable situations and helping them regain the ability to make choices about their life plans.
Educational and community action
La Grande Casa is built on the values of mutuality, solidarity, and democratic participation. Educators, operators, and members work together, sharing responsibilities and decision-making.
Through shared planning and constant dialogue, we act to overcome isolation and marginalization: we accompany, empower, prevent, and care for people with professionalism and socio-pedagogical sensitivity.
Our results
Every day we mobilize professionals, facilities, and services dedicated to those most in need: residential and day-care communities for children and young people, home education services, family foster care, counseling, and psychotherapy.
In 2024, we reached more than 17,000 beneficiaries, supported over 2,000 families, and operated through 58 facilities and 84 services — working with minors and families, migrants, women, youth, and students.

We are not just professionals — we are community builders. We protect rights, welcome stories, and nurture connections.
Our commitment is also political and cultural: we advocate, foster dialogue on social vulnerability, and work in networks with institutions and other Third Sector actors, so that everyone can be an active citizen.
