La Panchina is one of the Jonas Hubs in the outskirts of Milan, part of the project Psychoanalysis in the Suburbs, conceived and scientifically directed by Massimo Recalcati.

Amplifon Foundation has supported the initiative together with the Comunità di Sant’Egidio in Milan, with whom it has been active in the Corvetto neighborhood for five years, through a social inclusion project for local elderly residents.

The suburban Hubs are places where psychoanalysis becomes accessible even in peripheral areas—close, tangible, and able to rebuild bonds. The neighborhood becomes like a second family: ties to original communities partly fade, and a new identity is shaped starting from the connection with the area where one grows up. Yet, while this is a vital and fundamental aspect of neighborhood life and relationships, it often ends up as an element of “non-recognition” in relation to the rest of the city. This lack of recognition may generate feelings of loneliness and abandonment among the elderly, and anger and mistrust among young people—both leading to increasing isolation.

It is within this context that the Jonas Hubs and the Amplifon Foundation seek to intervene, creating a place to welcome those living at the margins of the city. This is the purpose of “La Panchina”, which reaches out to families, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. the project offers a dedicated listening space with the aim of making psychoanalysis accessible to all—including older residents, supported in partnership with the Comunità di Sant’Egidio in Corvetto.

The project’s activities, carried out by teams of psychologists and psychotherapists, range from individual counseling and psychological support to group meetings. They also include dedicated listening spaces for parents, as well as psychotherapy programs offered in both individual and group formats. In addition, our “bench” will host school-based prevention initiatives, thematic and psychoeducational workshops, and public conferences aimed at raising awareness and sharing knowledge across the city.

By running the Milan Relay Marathon with Amplifon Foundation, you will help support La Panchina project in one of the areas of Milan most in need of intervention. Thank you for being part of this project.
