RUN 4 GENE 2026

RUNFORGENE – APS Congenital Cataract

APS Congenital Cataract, founded in 2013 by a group of enterprising parents, aims to provide support and guidance to families who face congenital cataract and who initially experience inevitable confusion. It also serves as a point of reference for adult patients.

Among our areas of action is the support of scientific research, and it is within this field that the RunForGene project takes place.

The project involves collaboration between the Niguarda Hospital in Milan and the Department of Molecular Medicine at the University of Pavia, with the goal of identifying new genetic mutations responsible for congenital cataract.

For several years now, through the Milan Marathon, we have been supporting this research project, and last year we had the honor of seeing the first results published in a prestigious scientific journal.

Building on this important achievement, our research group has decided to raise the bar by expanding the investigation to include unilateral congenital cataracts, which were initially excluded from the study. Moreover, in this new phase, alongside the well-established genome analysis, the team has decided to introduce a more sophisticated and innovative tear film analysis, focusing on certain particles responsible for gene regulation.

This new and ambitious phase requires our financial support more than ever.

Run with us and with our researchers!
