In Italy, around 35,000 children require pediatric palliative care due to a diagnosis of an incurable illness, yet only 18% of them have access to this type of care.
To respond to this urgent need, Casa Sollievo Bimbi was established in 2019, the first pediatric-only hospice in Milan and Lombardy, and one of only eight in Italy. It’s a cutting-edge facility that complements and strengthens the pediatric palliative care services offered by VIDAS, integrating them with home-based assistance.
Casa Sollievo Bimbi is:

At Casa Sollievo Bimbi, sick children can live with their parents and siblings in six mini apartments, designed to feel like real homes, with 24/7 access for family members.
The hospice’s common areas are tailored to meet the specific needs of the young patients and are thoughtfully designed for their comfort.

Since 1982, VIDAS has been offering comprehensive and free health and social care to children, adults, and the elderly affected by incurable illnesses, ensuring that the physical, psychological, social, and relational needs of patients and their families are fully met. More than 300 people are assisted every day, totaling over 2,300 each year.
