Fondazione Gaslininsieme ETS
Gaslininsieme ETS is the foundation that raises funds for Giannina Gaslini Institute in Genoa, one of the most important pediatric hospitals in Italy and Europe, a centre of excellence in care, research, scientific and health training dedicated to children. Every year, Gaslini welcomes, assists, and treats thousands of young patients from all over Italy and from more than 50 countries around the world, for rare diseases and complex pathologies.
Gaslininsieme’s mission is to support Gaslini research and care, contribute to the structural, technological and digital improvement of the hospital, and promote the humanization of its environment and support for families.
Why run for Gaslini?
This year’s goal is to raise funds for Gaslini’s Humanisation project, “Caring goes beyond treatment”.
Hospitalisation can be a very difficult time for young children, when anxiety, pain and being away from home and loved ones can make treatment challenging.That is why it is important to make the hospital as welcoming and peaceful as possible, “child-friendly”.
Humanisation includes many projects such as Animal-Assisted Activities (AAA) to bring four-legged friends into the wards to promote the well-being of young patients by stimulating socialisation, encouraging movement and providing moments of happiness. Other initiatives include Music Therapy to cheer up children with musical activities, art and dance workshops, or Maternage, a truly important project that provides support to young patients who arrive at the hospital alone,without an adult reference due to family fragility, social emergencies or abuse.
Running for Gaslini means giving every young patient a bit of everyday life and normality during their hospital stay.
