Welcoming Programs for Single Mothers with Children

Welcoming is at the heart of Arché. It means being present every day, listening and offering trust to those experiencing vulnerability, guiding them toward autonomy and a dignified life. In its four residential communities for mothers and children, Arché supports single women with minor children who are facing serious hardship: survivors of abuse or domestic violence, migrant mothers without family or support networks, and individuals with psychological or social challenges that compromise their parenting capacity. Within these communities, each mother finds a safe and nurturing environment to rebuild her life and that of her children. Thanks to a multidisciplinary team of educators, psychologists, social workers, and healthcare professionals, women are supported in developing a personalized life plan. They are empowered to recognize and manage their resources, build healthy relationships, and acquire skills for independent living and economic self sufficiency, with the goal of achieving long-term autonomy. For children, Arché’s communities are places of care and growth: spaces where they receive the stability, attention, and affection essential for healthy development. A consistent daily routine allows them to attend school, engage in educational and recreational activities, and access psychological support when needed, all within a welcoming atmosphere that restores a sense of security and peace.

BENEFICIARIES

Up to 25 mother-child families involved in abuse, immigration, social distress and mental health issues.

OBJECTIVES

Arché’s communities aim to provide a welcoming, safe, and family-like environment where mothers and children can face daily challenges with greater peace of mind and gradually build a path toward autonomy and stability. In particular, the project’s main objectives are to:

  • Welcome mothers and children in their vulnerability, offering a space of safety, listening, and respect;
  • Support mothers in rebuilding their lives by helping them recognize their inner
    resources and develop a personal and family plan for a better future;
  • Ensure attentive care for children by fostering stability, affection, education, and
    opportunities for socialization;
  • Promote autonomy and social reintegration through initiatives that help mothers
    regain self-confidence and develop independent living skills and meaningful
    relationships;
  • Facilitate employment opportunities for the women through career guidance, training, and personalized support in accessing or returning to the workforce—with the goal of achieving economic independence and long-term stability.

HOW WE WILL USE THE FUNDS RAISED

Through the Milan Marathon 2026, we aim to sustain our daily work with mothers and children by covering essential costs not supported by public funding throughout the year, including:

  • The daily work of our educators, who professionally and compassionately guide mothers on their journey toward independence;
  • Medical expenses for mothers and children not covered by health services (e.g.
    glasses, orthodontic appliances, medications, urgent specialist visits);
  • Psychological support and psychomotor therapy for the children;
  • Recreational and play activities for mothers and children (e.g. swimming, cinema,
    theater, summer holidays).
