Aleimar – Organizzazione di Volontariato
Aleimar is a volunteer organization that, for over fourty years, has believed in one goal: supporting children in need, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or culture. “Together with the children of the world” is the mission that guides us and drives us to support children in all their daily needs, such as health, nutrition, and education, helping them along their path of human, emotional, social, and cultural growth.
BRAZIL AND STREET CHILDREN
In Brazil, millions of children live in situations of extreme vulnerability: hunger, abandonment, exploitation, and violence mark their daily lives.
In Manaus, the capital of the Amazon region, more than half of the population lives in favelas: neighborhoods that have sprung up on the outskirts of the city, lacking essential services, marked by environmental degradation, and dominated by crime. Here, minors risk being drawn into drug trafficking or child prostitution, and many suffer from malnutrition and illness.
School — which should open the way to a brighter future — often remains out of reach: some children never attend, while others end up dropping out and seeking small jobs to help support their families.
In these outskirts, marked by poverty and social fragility, abuse and exploitation pose a real and daily threat.
The lack of adequate protection networks leaves children exposed to silent forms of violence that steal not only their childhood but also their ability to envision a different future.
LITTLE BUTTERFLIES
Aleimar has been present in the favelas of Manaus since 1983, particularly in Colonia Antonio Aleixo and in the most disadvantaged neighborhoods such as Alvorada and Bela Vista. Here, we support around 100 children and their families through:
Food Assistance:
- Monthly distribution of basic food baskets to the most vulnerable families, containing rice, beans, flour, oil, and essential items, in order to reduce the risk of malnutrition
- 9 community canteens run by Father Gaston, where around 600 children receive a hot meal every day.
A safe haven for girls and adolescents:
at the “Beata Chiara Bosatta” Family Home, we provide protection for girls who are victims of abandonment, abuse, or violence. Here, they find shelter, care, educators who guide them, and professionals who attend to their psychological and educational well-being.
Psychological and social support:
we work to heal invisible wounds with a team of psychologists and social workers who assist children and families in processing traumas related to abuse, violence, or living in degraded conditions.
Educational programs:
we support children in their studies with after-school programs and personalized assistance to prevent school dropout. We also offer vocational training courses for adolescents, providing them with practical tools to secure dignified employment and break the cycle of poverty and exploitation.
WHY WE RUN THE MILANO MARATHON 2026
Running the Milano Relay Marathon with Aleimar means supporting street children in Manaus. Every kilometer helps provide:
- Over 7 000 hot meals per year
- A safe haven for 2 girls who are victims of violence
- Psychological support for 10 children
- One year of education and training workshops for 11 girls.
