The partnership with UniCredit, boasting a unique service model across Italy, Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, and serving more than 15 million clients, further strengthens the relay race. Over the years, this event has played a key role in expanding and enhancing the Milano Marathon, growing the running community, and reinforcing the strong connection with the local area.
Remo Taricani, Deputy Head of Italy at UniCredit, stated:
“For us, the Relay Marathon is not just a sponsorship; it is a concrete expression of UniCredit’s values. Inclusion, collaboration and solidarity come to life when our colleagues step up and become personally involved in social issues, demonstrating that together we can make a difference. Every step becomes an act of solidarity, thanks to the Il Mio Dono platform, which allows us to support more than one thousand Third Sector organizations, contributing to projects that generate real impact within the communities and territories where we operate.”
Solidarity runs as fast as the athletes: €1,820,000 is the record amount raised for the 2025 edition on the Rete del Dono platform, partner of the initiative—an increase of 25% compared to the previous year. These outstanding figures confirm the strength of one of the most deeply rooted social initiatives in the area (launched in 2012), which has now reached a record total of €8.8 million raised overall.
There will be more than 140 official charities involved in next year’s fundraising project. With the goal of making the program increasingly inclusive—bringing marathon runners and not only relay participants closer to supporting charitable projects, increasing fundraising results and encouraging personal fundraising—the number of participating organizations has been expanded from 103 in 2025 to 141 in 2026.
The official charities operate across a wide range of fields: from healthcare and social assistance (Lega del Filo d’Oro, Lega Italiana Fibrosi Cistica Lombardia, Make-A-Wish Italia Onlus, C’è Da Fare), to social inclusion (PlayMore! with the RunChallenge project, Obiettivo3, Laureus Sport for Good, Special Olympics Italia); from international cooperation (Paolo Chiesi Foundation) to scientific research (AIRC and Telethon, among others); from sport (Sport Senza Frontiere) to culture (Wikimedia Italia, Associazione culturale Stefano D’Orto); from education and training (SIT – Sport Inclusione Talento and Bocconi University) to animal welfare (ENPA, Una Zampa per la Spagna). Special attention is also given to organizations addressing sensitive issues such as eating disorders, an increasingly widespread challenge among young people (Fra Me&Te).
Following Fondazione TOG, which supported RCS Sports & Events during the 2025 preparation journey, PlayMore! with the RunChallenge project has been named Charity of the Year 2026. This initiative, introduced last year, aims to highlight and celebrate the commitment and work of outstanding organizations dedicated to social impact and involved in the Charity Program.
