Founded in 1965 thanks to the vision and determination of those who believed in the value of research at a time when cancer was still a taboo subject, AIRC now funds the work of thousands of researchers and promotes a culture of prevention throughout Italy.
Research is essential, but prevention can also make a difference. This is the message behind the Il Manifesto della Prevenzione “Ogni Movimento conta” (Prevention Manifesto, “Every Movement Counts”), which reminds us that every daily choice—starting with physical activity—can help protect our health.
In 2027, Fondazione AIRC is the Charity of the Year of the Wizz Air Milano Marathon: a recognition that celebrates a history of commitment, achievements and trust in science, bringing together the power of sport and the value of research.

The goal of the 2027 fundraising campaign is to fund an AIRC Start-Up Grant worth €150,000, dedicated to young researchers ready to develop innovative ideas capable of making a real difference.
